Miklós Forrai - conductor
President of the Chamber Choir and the competition:

Aims of the Chamber Choir Competition
Hungary - owing to Zoltán Kodály - is the homeland of choir music. The competition provides a forum for choirs all over the world to compete with one another, to get to know each others' style, tonality-image, repertoire, and - last but not least - to get acquainted with some prominent pieces of Hungarian musical heritage. Pécs with its mediterranean atmosphere is a city of cultural heritage as well as cultural innovation and becomes the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2010. According to the Cultural Capital project 2009 is going to be the year of “Religious Culture” and with this competition we intend to celebrate the Millenary of the Pécs Episcopate.
