Rules of the competition
- Accompanied choir works - with a maximum of 5 instruments - and a'cappella pieces may be performed. Piano/organ is provided at the concert venues.
- The competition consists of three rounds. Participation is compulsory in all. The final result is the sum of the three rounds.
- The scores of the compulsory pieces are available on the website of the competition: www.civilhaz-pecs.hu/korusverseny or in case of need it will be mailed simultaneously with the confirmation of the application.
- The first round is called the competition of "fast-learning". The second round must contain sacred pieces and the programme of third round is free choice. The compulsory piece must be performed in the second round.
- In the competition of "fast-learning", 75 minutes will be given for each choir to learn the same not too difficult, easy-to-sing piece (there will be separate pieces for mixed choirs and equal voices). The order will be decided by draw. The ensembles will receive the score with a difference of 5 minutes, and will be asked to perform it 75 minutes later accordingly.
- The duration of pure singing time is max. 15 minutes in the second (including the compulsory piece) and third round. There will be no applause between the pieces, just after the whole program. Exceeding the allowed time will entail a deduction of scores.
- Both the compulsory and original works must be performed in the original key. Exceptions can be made with renaissance pieces that can be performed in other keys, and with works for equal voices where it is indicated. The jury must be informed in advance until the 15th April 2011.
- The submitted and accepted programme cannot be changed.
- The jury will assess the choirs considering the following criteria:
- technical accomplishment
- artistic achievement
- choice of programme
- Awarded choirs will take part in the gala concert.
- The jury reserves the right to split or withhold a prize in a given category.
- All decisions of the jury are final and irrevocable.
