20. Pécsi Nemzetközi Kamarakórus Verseny és Kodály Szimpózium

20th International Chamber Choir Competition of Pécs and Kodály Symposium

Aims

Hungary - owing to Zoltán Kodály - is the homeland of choir music. The competition provides a forum for choirs all over the world to compete with one another, to get to know each others' style, tonality-image, repertoire, and - last but not least - to get acquainted with some prominent pieces of Hungarian musical heritage. Pécs with its mediterranean atmosphere is a city of cultural heritage as well as cultural innovation and becomes the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2010. According to the 2010 project 2007 is going to be the year of “Training and Education”, that’s why we associate specially to the work of one of the greatest Hungarian teacher of music, Zoltán Kodály. At the 125th anniversary of the birth of Kodály we intend to celebrate his magnitude with the competition (25th-28th May 2007) connected with an international Kodály Symposium (24th-25th May).
